Logic - Yoda was better than Mace, so if Dooku stalemates him than it means Dooku is superior too.

All of this is before his role as a dark jedi/sith lord. But as a sith lord he had nearly 30 acolyte's.
Mace Windu only trained 1 person (depa billaba) that's it (in his entire life).
